CSS Calendar

• Homebuyer Training Courses begin January 8th. Are you interested in purchasing a home? Then this course is for you. Contact your caseworker for more information or to sign up for classes.
• College Preparation Classes begin January 14th. Clients will receive guidance on SAT/ACT prep, college admissions, financial aid and other areas to prepare for college entry.
• The next Customer Service & Retail Training Program class begins February 12th. This 4 week program, made possible through a partnership between BHA and Walgreen's, is outfitted with a "mini store" featuring product shelves, cash registers, scanners and other retail tools. Students received job readiness skills training that includes basic math skills, customers service, shelf stocking, cash register operation and other retail functions.

Classes also feature guest lecturers and motivational speakers. The final part of the training includes résumé preparation assistance from the Texas Workforce Center and mock interviews by local human resources professionals. Students will also visit "Suits for Success" to be outfitted in professional interview attire. Upon graduation from the program, trainees are referred to area Walgreen's and other retail stores with vacancies.
